RYA / MCA Basic Sea Survival

1 day: 150

Yachting is one of the safest leisure sporting activities and 99.9% of yachtsmen will never use their liferafts. However if you are one of the unlucky few, your chances of survival will be greatly increased if you understand how to use the equipment and how to help yourself. It is a well proven fact that , in the event of an emergency at sea, people who have received training are more likely to survive.

The RYA Small Craft Sea Survival course is a must for anyone who wants to go to sea.

Course Content

The RYA one day Sea Survival course is a genuine lifesaver. Designed for small craft users , the course provides understanding on how to use the safety equipment found on small vessels. Liferafts, the equipment they contain and survival techniques form the central part of the course. Other topics covered include the design of lifejackets, medical aspects of sea survival and search and rescue techniques. There is a practical session in the pool and students are encouraged to experience first hand the problems of entering and assisting the entrance of others into an inflated and uncooperative liferaft whilst fully kitted out.

The full syllabus is contained in the RYA Logbooks G15 or G18.
